X2BIRT Features and Benefits

X2BIRT is an option for BIRT iServer and is enabled through features available in ActuateOne^®. Because deployment depends on an organization’s current configuration, Actuate provides two deployment options for X2BIRT:

• Dynamic transformation using Information Console and X2BIRT – In this deployment option, the BIRT report is actually “running” the conversion process, creating calls to X2BIRT to access and retrieve data.

• Batch load using iServer – In this option, data is loaded (using X2BIRT) to the iServer for processing, access, and storage.

Either deployment option allows organizations to access a wide variety of documents and other content and turn it into usable data that can be accessed with ActuateOne BIRT products, including BIRT 360, for user-serviceable dashboards; BIRT Interactive Viewer, for user self-service reports; BIRT Studio, for ad-hoc reporting on the fly; BIRT Data Analyzer, for in-memory analytics; and BIRT Scorecard, for performance management.

Additional insight into documents and print streams translates into better decisions and increased revenue for any organization. Organizations are able to:

• Leverage existing high-volume print streams and documents to create an interactive experience for users
• Access previously “locked” content from repositories, legacy systems, print streams, and structured or semi-structured data
• View data from operational reports from mainframes in easily understood visualizations
• Tap summary transactional or event information and use it to formulate strategies and optimize operations
• Integrate unstructured data stored in print streams with other operational data to analyze and apply the results in new ways
• Allow customers to serve themselves via interactive statements, etc.
