Nicolas C. Nierenberg
Chairman of the Board and Chief Architect
Nico Nierenberg has been a software entrepreneur and innovator for over 20 years. He founded Actuate in 1993 and served as CEO until August 2000. As Chairman of the Board and Chief Architect, Nico continues to guide Actuate’s technology direction. Nico is also a Venture Consultant with Accel Partners and serves on the Board of another software company, AwarePoint Corporation. Prior to Actuate, Nico co-founded Unify Corp. and was Systems Software Chief for Rogers, Kirkham and Associates. Nico started his career as a systems programmer and applications developer at SAIC. Nico attended the University of California, Los Angeles and the University of California, San Diego, where he studied economics and computer sciences.
Peter I. Cittadini
Chief Executive Officer and President
Pete Cittadini joined Actuate in 1995 and has almost 30 years of executive management experience in the enterprise software industry. Prior to Actuate, Pete was Senior Vice President of Worldwide Operations at Interleaf, Inc., where he successfully redirected the corporation to focus on the lucrative integrated document management market. Prior to Interleaf, Pete spent six years at Oracle Corp, where he was Vice President, Northeast Division, and led Oracle's most successful sales operation. Pete has also held sales management and technical positions at Applied Data Research, CSC Infonet and MacMillan, Inc. Pete holds a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Boston College.
Daniel A. Gaudreau
Senior Vice President, Operations and CFO
Dan Gaudreau has over twenty-five years of financial experience in various high tech industries. Before joining Actuate, Dan served as Vice President, Finance and CFO of Plantronics, Inc. where he helped the company achieve record earnings in the two fiscal years following the firm's IPO. Prior to Plantronics, Dan closed 1992's second largest private equity placement when he worked as Vice President, Finance and Operations and CFO at Ready Systems, developers of software design tools. Prior to Ready Systems, Dan spent about two years as Controller of Fremont Manufacturing Operations for Apple Computer. Prior to Apple, Dan was employed eighteen years with General Electric where he held various financial management positions in industries such as medical equipment, factory automation and computer aided design software.
N. Nobby Akiha
Senior Vice President, Marketing
Mr. Akiha brings over 25 years of experience in high technology and consumer packaged goods marketing to Actuate Corporation. He joined Actuate in 2000 as vice president of Marketing. Prior to joining Actuate, he was vice president, Marketing and Business Development at Inference Corporation. Mr. Akiha also served as senior consultant at Regis McKenna, Inc., Director of Marketing Communications for CASE vendor Interactive Development Environments (IDE) and Group Product manager at Oracle Corporation. Mr. Akiha started his marketing career consulting to consumer packaged goods companies at Management Decision Systems and Burke Marketing Research. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from the University of British Columbia and an Masters Science in Management from the Sloan School of Management at M.I.T.
Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, Secretary and Corporate Development
Prior to joining Actuate in May 2006, Tom worked at Sun Microsystems where he counseled the company on intellectual property and strategic matters. Prior to Sun, Tom was associated with several prominent Bay Area law firms including Wilson Sonsini, Bay Venture Counsel and Heller Ehrman where he gained securities, general corporate, litigation and licensing experience. He has been a panelist for the Practicing Law Institute program "Preparation of Annual Disclosure Documents." Tom also served as a law clerk for the Honorable Lawrence T. Lydick, United States District Court for the Central District of California (Santa Ana). He received his J.D. from Stanford Law School and his A.B. from U.C. Berkeley.
Vice President and General Manager – Content Services Group
Steve Jones leads the Sales, Marketing, Professional Services, and Sales Engineering departments of Actuate’s Content Services Group. Prior to its acquisition, Steve held a number of executive positions at Xenos Corp., including VP Solutions Strategy, VP of Business Operations, VP Implementation Services, Director of Product Management and Manager of Global IT. As a 10 year member of the Xenos management team Steve worked closely with customers to design, implement and integrate Xenos technology to address critical business issues. Previously, Steve worked for Perle Systems Limited as Global MIS Manager, Compaq Canada as Senior Operations Analyst, and the Canadian Depository for Securities as Senior Systems Engineer. Steve attended the University of Western Ontario and holds a Masters Certificate in Project Management from the Schulich Business School.
Vice President and General Manager – Xenos Group
Paul brings over 15 years of software development experience to Actuate. He is responsible for Engineering, Product Management, Product Marketing, Quality Assurance and Customer Support of Actuate’s Content Services Group. Paul joined Xenos Corp. in 1999, and has had extensive customer-facing experience in all global markets. Most recently, he was VP of Engineering at Xenos, and previously held the positions of Chief Operating Officer, Director of Sales Engineering, and Director of Development. Prior to joining Xenos, Paul was a software developer at the Insurers' Advisory Organization where he designed and developed online systems for the Insurance industry. Paul is a graduate of the University of Waterloo with a Bachelors degree in Mathematics (Honors Computer Science).
