Actuate Addresses Healthcare Industry With iKnowMed OEM Agreement

iKnowMed Aims to Increase Patient Care With the Integration of Actuate Information Delivery Solution

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.--June 19, 2001-- Actuate®  Corporation, the Information Delivery market leader, today announced a strategic OEM agreement with iKnowMed, the Clinical Knowledge Network. As stated in the agreement, iKnowMed has embedded the Actuate Information Delivery solution within the iKnowMed Reporting Center for physicians wanting to reduce paper charts and improve patient healthcare.

iKnowMed's latest Internet breakthrough, the iKnowMed Reporting Center, is a reporting tool that lets practices monitor their clinical and financial performance, and view benchmark reports from the Network as a whole. The Reporting Center, as delivered by the Actuate Information Delivery solution, presents blinded data from the iKnowMed Network, on treatment outcomes including: treatment response, toxicities, treatment regimen selection, relative dose intensity, chemotherapy dosing, population overview and more. This information provides physicians with a window on the practices, protocols and procedures used by hundreds of other iKnowMed participants to assess, treat, and care for their cancer patients. The Actuate reports can be generated and viewed with parameters defined by the user. A clinician can see reports by practice, MD, time period, diagnosis and stage, by population variable and more.

iKnowMed selected Actuate because of its security capabilities, its ability to deliver reports over the Web as well as for its scalability. The iKnowMed Reporting Center, through the Actuate reports, will ultimately lead to better decision making of a cancer patients' health. iKnowMed, with the help of Actuate, is striving to improve healthcare by offering the most accurate data possible to the physician and their staff, so they may offer the patient the best facilities and care possible. The information delivered by Actuate will be extracted from the iKnowMed data warehouse and delivered via an IIS web server. iKnowMed will be utilizing the Actuate XML capabilities in the future as well as integrating Java into The Reporting Center.

``We recognized the immense need for Information Delivery capabilities within The Reporting Center in order to allow physicians to better understand their treatment patterns and clinical outcome. With the help of Actuate, we're able to deliver such groundbreaking products that improve healthcare,'' said Mark Siem, Chief Operating Officer, iKnowMed.

``iKnowMed saw the benefit that Information Delivery would bring to their application and to the doctors using it,'' said Frank van Veenendaal, Actuate's senior vice president of its e.Business Application Partners business unit. ``Actuate is delivering information in the form of charts and graphs enabling doctors and patients to see what medication is working for which cancer. It's great to see the Actuate Information Delivery solution being used in ways that could eventually save lives.''
