San Mateo, Calif. – March 10, 2014 – Actuate Corporation (NASDAQ: BIRT), The BIRT Company™ and the leader in personalized analytics and insights, today announced its participation in this year’s CSUN International Technology and Persons with Disabilities Conference, which runs from March 17 – 22, 2014 in San Diego, California. This conference focuses on assistive technology and its positive impact on people with disabilities. Shannon Kelly, Global Accessibility Solutions Subject Matter Expert with the Content Solutions Group at Actuate, will conduct a session about PDF/UA (Universal Accessibility) – the international standard for creating accessible PDF output – and the value it brings to organizations’ comprehensive online presentment strategies.
Kelly will use her extensive knowledge, gained from more than six years of accessibility industry experience, to explain how PDF/UA is changing the level of accessibility of PDF documents so that visually impaired customers now have complete access to understand the communications they are receiving. An organization’s conformance with PDF/UA helps to ensure that important documents and statements are always accessible and fully usable by individuals with visual disabilities who use assistive technology software. Kelly’s session will also identify benefits to offering accessible PDFs, and share new methods, including Actuate’s PDF Accessibility Solution, for incorporating accessible content into an organization’s existing workflow.
