Dodson is the Director of BIRT Evangelists at Actuate, and will present ways to connect and visualize Big Data using Eclipse BIRT. Other expert speakers from Eclipse projects and Google will share their personal experiences using various Eclipse projects and related technologies, with developers and other attendees. All attendees will gain the opportunity to network and gather insights from fellow Eclipse enthusiasts, while learning best practices.
About the Presentation
Dodson will discuss open source BIRT – an Eclipse Foundation top level project co-founded and supported by Actuate – which offers native support to Hadoop through Hive queries. The latest version of open source BIRT works with any source of data – structured, unstructured or multi-structured; traditional or new (machine and social media). Developers will learn how to gather and display data from any Big Data source, such as Cassandra or MongoDB. Furthermore, this session will cover in detail how BIRT allows users to easily retrieve, visualize and analyze data with dynamic drill through and interactive capabilities.

Eclipse Day at the Googleplex runs from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. PST on December 18, 2013. The majority of the day offers two tracks of presentation sessions.
