Actuate Joins AFP Consortium to Further Address Customers' High-Volume Content Needs

Membership will enhance Actuate’s Customer Communications Management (CCM) solution by incorporating AFPC functionality and formats across industries

San Mateo, Calif., – October 28, 2013 Actuate Corporation (NASDAQ: BIRT), The BIRT Company™ – delivering more insights to more people than all BI companies combined, today announced that Actuate’s Content Services Group (CSG) has joined the AFPC (Advanced Function Presentation Consortium). Actuate’s Content Services Group (formerly Xenos Group) enables organizations to develop, implement and manage enterprise-class Customer Communications Management (CCM) solutions. Actuate for CCM™ is used to design, process, store, and deliver high-volume content – including statements, policies and invoices. As one of the most common presentation architectures for monochrome and color production variable-data printing, AFP is a popular format for high-volume print stream output.

“Many of Actuate’s customers create millions of print streams in their day-to-day billing and transactional output. To keep up with this volume, tools are needed to efficiently process and store such documents and print streams,” said Jeff Williams, Director of Product Management for the Content Services Group at Actuate. “AFP is designed with such companies in mind, and allows them to accommodate high-volume print streams and stay on top of their business needs. Actuate for CCM works seamlessly with AFP – ensuring that we remain current and deliver products that capitalize on all new AFP functionality.”

The AFPC helps develop, define and promote AFP architecture for developers and software manufacturers, ensuring seamless interoperability of AFP products from various AFPC members, and providing compatibility between AFP and other presentation environments. The AFPC gives developers a forum where they can share AFP knowledge, and offers decision makers the ability to learn about the roles and capabilities of AFP and AFP’s subset standards in Enterprise Content Management (ECM) and other electronic document applications.
