Better By Design: Thanks to the Dynamic, Customisable Data Delivery and Dashboard Capabilities of ActuateOne, Kallik’s Clients Now Have Complete Visibility of the Artwork Management Process
San Mateo, Calif., – May 24 , 2011 –
Actuate Corporation (NASDAQ: BIRT), the people behind BIRT® and the leading open source Business Intelligence
(BI) vendor, today announced the fruits of a new alliance with Kallik
, a specialist in artwork management solutions (AMS360) in the UK.
Kallik, which counts Estée Lauder
among its global clients, provides an end-to-end software solution which automates and streamlines the creation of artwork and packaging for major branded products. Its software, based on an Automated Artwork Generator, creates packaging, label and point-of-sale artwork in minutes.
The company, which formed a technology alliance with Actuate late last year, has now fully integrated ActuateOne - a complete BI solution built on BIRT- into its product set, giving customers access to unprecedented, dynamic data delivery and dashboard capabilities. Andy Bligh, Kallik’s senior software developer, and head of the Actuate integration project, explains: “Our software had basic reporting capabilities, which was something we wanted to address to give our clients much greater visibility over the design process and how work is progressing. This is particularly important where teams are dispersed across multiple countries and continents.”
Andy was familiar with Actuate BIRT through the Eclipse BIRT
open source project, so began investigating the commercial product set more closely. “We did a proof of concept and it was clear that this was a nice piece of software,” he says. “Actuate 11, with BIRT 360, offered tremendous flexibility including the ability to provide ad-hoc reporting through a visually rich dashboard.”
Kallik has tightly integrated Actuate’s dynamic data delivery capabilities into its core product set, adding new value for clients without requiring any additional user effort or training. “The extended capabilities are seamless to the customer,” Andy notes. “This was easy to achieve because the Actuate products are based on open source and lend themselves to being embedded within other solutions. The integration process was logical, smooth and fast, despite the depth at which we have combined the products.”
The enhanced AMS products give Kallik a new competitive edge, he adds. “It brings the software to life, showing users the status of projects and where items are in the process. The new, ad-hoc reporting and dashboard capabilities of ActuateOne, offers us and our clients something special and different. They can now generate all sorts of dynamic reports, from KPI reports if bottlenecks arise, to management and user reports. Customer satisfaction is key for us; this will give us a real boost, hopefully leading to new sales.”
A further factor in Kallik’s decision to choose the Actuate’s suite of premier BI tools was the credibility and maturity of the company. “The professionalism of the company is impressive,” Andy concludes. “We have had excellent, responsive support, and there is a wealth of additional resource on the Internet, thanks to the BIRT open source forums which have been extremely useful.”
Commenting on the alliance with Kallik, David Armstrong, vice president OEM at Actuate, said, “We are delighted that a leader in this specialist field, with such a prestigious client base, has bet its business on BIRT. I’m confident that this is the beginning of a lucrative future for both companies. By embedding Actuate’s open source-based product set, Kallik has been able to focus its own resources on its core competences, while adding important new value for its clients.”
