Xplor International Selects Xenos for Honorable Mention in 2010 Innovator of the Year Award
San Mateo, Calif. – February 23, 2010 – Actuate Corporation (NASDAQ: ACTU), the people behind BIRT™, today announced that Xenos received an Honorable Mention in Xplor International's 2010 Innovator of the Year Award. In the Innovator Award category, Xenos Document Storage Reduction (DSR) was recognized for its role in driving down operational costs for enterprise content management (ECM).
By eliminating duplication across a variety of storage-related solutions, Xenos DSR has been proven to reduce storage costs by orders of magnitude. One of the largest insurance and financial services companies in the world has this to say about Xenos DSR:
“Despite the gradual decline in storage costs and the exponential growth in data demands, organizations like ours continue to apply more innovative approaches to reducing storage requirements. Working with the Xenos Document Storage Reduction solution, we have successfully reduced more than 2.2 terabytes of electronic documents down to under 400 gigabytes! That translates into an over 80% reduction in document storage and improved bottom line results.”
The Xplor Innovator of the Year Award honors an individual, company, or organization that has conceived and developed an original concept leading to a significant advancement in the industry.
"We received outstanding nominations for the Innovator of the Year Award but only two could receive recognition, making this year's award selection an extremely difficult task," says Skip Henk, EDP, President and CEO of Xplor International. "We congratulate Xenos on its innovative approach to addressing an industry-wide issue, document storage reduction, and for being selected as the Honorable Mention in our 2010 Innovator of the Year Award."
Introduced in March 2009, Xenos DSR is built on the Xenos Enterprise Server and reduces storage requirements by intelligently separating unique transactional content and common document resources found within high-volume document print batches. Common document resources, including content-rich graphics repeated across every customer communication, are stored only once. Pointers to the duplicate resources are then embedded in documents that contain the unique transactional data elements. Xenos DSR allows for the dynamic assembly of transactional data and duplicate resources in real time when a document is requested for viewing by a user.
“Document storage reduction represents one of the single largest operational cost savings opportunities available to organizations today and Xenos DSR can help them," said Pete Cittadini, president and CEO of Actuate Corporation. “Being recognized by Xplor International raises the profile of our document storage reduction offering as a way to lower costs. We are honored to be recognized for our innovation in this field.”
The award will be presented during the 2010 Xplor Global Conference & Vendor Forum being held at the TradeWinds Island Grand Hotel and Conference Centre in Tampa Bay, Florida. Craig Smith, vice president of North American Sales and Marketing for the Xenos Division of Actuate will be accepting the award at the ceremony on Wednesday, March 17th from 3:30 - 4:30 pm.
